School Choice America's public school system is in desperate need of repair. Often, low-income families have no choice but to send their children to a sub-par school. The public education system is bogged down by bureaucracy and inefficiency, and it keeps getting worse, year after year. The government’s solution, sadly, is to throw more money into a system that clearly doesn’t work. Americans for Limited Government's solution is radically different, and aims at the root of the problem. We want to change the system itself, introducing competition and accountability, and, ultimately, putting educational choices back where they belong: In the hands of families. Free market competition will lead to better schools along with more efficient, effective spending. Some people worry that school choice will hurt their local public school. The public education establishment, eager to hold on to power, plays into these fears, even though it has been shown that school choice makes public schools better than before. Parents have total control over where their children attend pre-school. Parents and children work together to choose a college. But somehow, during the K-12 years, parents have virtually no control over the education of their children, unless they are willing and able to pay both local property taxes plus tuition at a private or independent school. School choice is desperately needed to revitalize America's education system. The U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld school choice programs, including vouchers, tax credits, and tax deductions. Americans for Limited Government fully supports the idea of school choice and is working to promote educational choice across the nation. For more information on school choice please email us here.
